WikiLeaks – Collateral Murder – US military video slaying dozen people in the Iraq

Normally I would not post such videos on this blog, however I think it is very important for people around the world to know the truth.  As only truth can set you free.

The video itself explain what happens, the people talking in the video themselves paint a sad picture and these are the forces to protect your freedom at the cost of another nation loosing its freedom.

You decide what you think, as you have a mind too:

Bogus Fake Media Reports – why suddenly?

No doubt you would have heard or read that Bogus TV report of Russian Invasion panics Georgia, if this is the first time you are reading about this then you might want to read the actual news article on BBC website, however in the last few ours a similar news article on the same website claims French railway SNCF in train ‘explosion’ blunder.  Click here for the news article.

I’m a little confused and suspicious as to why such bogus and fake information is being put on public domain.  Is this a just a mistake or is this building up to something major to create chaos and fear amongst people by deliberately circulating false new information?

I shall monitor this further but what do you think?

Historical Launching of Fatwa Against Terrorism – UPDATE

On the 2nd March 2010, I reported a historical Fatwa against terrorism by Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Thair-ul-Qadri.

Since then, I have been searching for more material and details from this Fatwa, and here are a few details which might help you understand why I call this a ‘historical fatwa’.

The actual fatwa can be viewed here and I would encourage everyone to read it, since this issues effects everyone non-Muslims and Muslims.  Therefore any misconceptions that might have existed can be tackled, so that we can co-exist peacefully.

Also, the actual launching ceremony of the Fatwa on the 2nd March 2010 can be seen below or on youtube.  As well as reading the actual Fatwa it is also important to view the launching ceremony as the Shaykh Dr Thair-ul-Qadri examines and explains why this is the real view of true Muslims.

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, the founding leader and patron-in-chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, has issued his detailed edict (Fatwa) against terrorism which consists of more than 600 pages. The launching ceremony of the Fatwa was held on March 2, 2010 in London (UK). Minhaj-ul-Quran International UK arranged a press conference which was heavily attended by representatives of the international media besides Labour party minister Shahid Malik, members of EU and UK parliaments Sajjad Karim, Muhammad Sarwar, James Finter, ambassadors of Iraq, Germany and other countries, officials of the Home Office, Commonwealth Office and Metropolitan Police, Professors and Muslim and Christian community leaders.

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri presented the anti-terror Fatwa in Urdu and English languages before the international media. It should be kept in mind that Shaykh-ul-Islam had declared to issue a detailed Fatwa against terrorism and suicide bombings in December 2009, which was originally thought to consist of 300 pages, whose volume later on increased to 600 pages due to scholarly dealing of the subject. This Fatwa is the only one of its kind in terms of its intellectual value, penetrating research and authentic allusions. Hence, it is a scholarly and historic document.

Talking to the international media on the occasion, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that ever increasing wave of extremism and terrorism has destroyed the world peace. It is a matter of great misfortune that these terrorist activities of the misguided elements have been bracketed with Islam though the reality is otherwise. He said that majority of the religious scholars condemn terrorism but the condemnation is merely rhetorical. No one has come forward with an authentic and intellectual response to terrorism in the form of a patent decree. Minhaj-ul-Quran International has told the world in no uncertain terms through issuance of this Fatwa that terrorists have nothing to do with Islam. It is a peaceful religion, which not only condemns but also prohibits every kind of terrorism at every level under any pretext.

He said that the suicide bombers are out of the pale of Islam. He hoped that the youth would not become the fodder for the cannons of terrorist elements or extremist organizations after studying the Fatwa. The terrorist elements brainwash the youth by invoking wrong interpretations of the faith. The youth who advance the objectives of the terrorists should regard themselves out of the fold of Islam in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Prophet (saw). He said that terrorism is terrorism and it cannot be justified under any pretext through allusion to any real or alleged instances of injustice and there is no space for terrorism in Islam.

He regretted the fact that the Islamic teachings, which are based on love, peace and welfare, are being manipulated and quoted out of contexts to serve the designs of the vested interests. He said that Islam spelled out a clear code of conduct during the course of war and gave complete protection to the non-combatants including women, the old, and children etc., so much so that trading centres, schools, hospitals and worship places were also declared as safe.

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that those who want to impose the Islamic order on others by means of force and naked power belong to the group of Khawarij who, during the Caliphate of Hazrat Ali (ra), took up arms and initiated rebellion against the Islamic state in the name of enforcing the Divine Order. The terrorists of today also belong to the same breed of Khawarij. They resemble one another in their appearances, body demeanors and even working. He said that Islam does not approve of the killing of innocent people under any excuse. There is a judicial system to indict the wrong-doers and bring them to book. It is the responsibility of the Islamic state to implement the system of justice and punishment through state-run mechanism and none can be allowed to take law in his hands.

He vehemently condemned those who perpetrate terrorism in the name of religion and branded them as the greatest enemies of Islam. He said that if at all these people have to wage Jihad, they could do so against ignorance, corruption, dearness, poverty and other social evils. He also blasted the opponents of democracy and said that the Holy Prophet (saw) is the champion of the democratic and consultative system. Shaykh-ul-Islam reminded the Islamic governments of the fact that it is their national and religious duty to eliminate terrorism and terrorist networks from their midst. They should continue the military action till the complete elimination of these groups.

In reply to a question, he said that the Islamic governments should allow democracy to flourish and strengthen political system and processes. If the enemies of Islam and Khawarij are totally annihilated, the roots of terrorism would stand dismantled. He deplored that the Muslim youth happened to be the first casualty of terrorism, for they got trapped in the hands of the terrorist for the sake of religion. The major advantage of the Fatwa would be that the youth would be able to know the reality of their actions whether they are choosing the path to hell or heaven.

British cabinet minister, Shahid Malik, paid glowing tribute to Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri and said that he has always projected the real teachings of Islam. His Fatwa would have long-term positive and revolutionary impact on the Muslim community living in UK and elsewhere and would transform mindsets. He assured his full cooperation at the governmental level.

The media men asked Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri a number questions, which he answered satisfactorily. The press conference continued well over three hours. Shaykh-ul-Islam also gave short interviews to different media outlets on the occasion.

How not to get depressed?

How to deal with Life’s hardships and not be depressed?

We have to admit that sometimes there are difficult stages in our lives. During that time, we are often tested and later realize that test had a great impact on us today.

Sometimes we look at an individual and the first thing that comes to our mind if they are smiling and enjoying themselves is, “I wish I could live that person’s life, they seem so happy, free from problems and hardships.”

The truth is that nobody has a life free from hardships. It is easy to hide what we have been through and to keep the pain that continually adds up inside without opening up and discussing the problem. One of the most important things I have learned is constantly keeping things to yourself can lead to a more severe anxiety and depression.
Depression has become a very serious and common illness among people in today’s society. It is true that depression is very hard to overcome and recover from. You cannot simply wake up one morning, go to a therapist for a 45 minute session, and feel happy and cheerful again. Recovering from depression, anxiety and panic attacks takes a while, for some people it may take weeks, and for others it may take months or even years depending on how hard they are willing to work with the therapist, psychiatrist, and anti depressants.

A poem which I read today By Mevlana Rumi(ra)

“Love is the cure,
for your pain will keep giving birth to more pain
until your eyes constantly exhale love
as effortlessly as your body yields its scent.”

The hardest part to getting through depression is not knowing who to turn to for help. It becomes very hard for us to trust people and take advice because we have isolated ourselves completely from the people we love. It becomes extremely hard to control our emotions as well. The first step is to discuss your problem with the parent you feel most comfortable with. Letting out your emotions is one way of reducing depression because emotions will eventually control you if you let them build up.

I would just like to say that there is truly nothing worth being depressed over in this world. We need to put our faith in Allah and trust that he will protect us from anything and everything. Let us make the hereafter our main priority and if we focus on that alone, and I can guarantee that depression will not be a problem.

I hope this helps.

FATWA ON SUICIDE BOMBINGS AND TERRORISM

By Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

The leader of a worldwide Muslim movement with thousands of followers in the UK is due to issue a fatwa – or Islamic religious ruling – condemning terrorism and warning suicide bombers that they are “destined for hell”.

The 600-page fatwa announces that “suicide bombings and attacks against civilian targets are not only condemned by Islam, but render the perpetrators totally out of the fold of Islam, in other words, to be unbelievers”.

A dedicated website contain mores information, and anyone who is concerned about Terrorism should try to read and make sense of what is been said.  Largely the Muslim population in the UK condemn terrorism and killing of innocent civilians, this fatwa will now support them and create a foundation for further discussion.

Bill Gates: Use Vaccines To Lower Population

WOW – Did he really say this?  Well according to a report over at Prison Planet he does:

Stating that the global population was heading towards 9 billion, Gates said,

“If we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services (abortion), we could lower that by perhaps 10 or 15 per cent.”

It strikes me how a programmer now can have the authority to decide the growth or de-growth of a population.  This news is something to be followed up in future.

I shall continue to update this post with any additional information as I come across it.

John Harris – Its An Illusion

All,

Another phone call from a close associate prompted me to watch this video.  John Harris who’s profession is a carpenter has dug deep into how our society is formed, who owns what and difference between Human and Persons.

Admittedly, I had no such knowledge about this and in fairness to John he does make some really valid points.  Normally, we do hear and watch conspiracy theories or confessions from people involved in secret societies, but John talk on how our society is setup is an eye opener.

Without saying any more on this, please watch the video and leave you thoughts:

Noah’s Ark to break Israeli embargo on Gaza

“The Turkish-Israel axis has undermined many principles of Turkish foreign policy,” Turkish journalist Cengiz Candar, in his speech at the Washington Institute.

Bulent Yildirim, President of Turkish  IHH Humanitarian Foundation (Insani Yardim Vakfi) has announced that IHH is planning to send a convoy of 20 ships, code name Noah’s Arak, carrying humanitarian aid to 1.5 million residents of Gaza under Israeli embargo. “We are planning to go to Gaza with a fleet of 20 ships to be set up in an international organization probably in April 2010. Our aid ships will continue to head for Gaza until Israeli embargo is lifted. The cargo ships will carry Israeli-embargoed building materials, generators, medication, medical equipment and educational materials. The passenger ships to accompany the cargo ships, will carry journalists, human-right advocates, activists and law-makers from various countries”. The IHH Foundation has been active in humanitarian work in more than hundred countries around the world – in the Middle East, Africa, Balkans, Asia and South America. Recently, it sent medical and other aid material to Haiti. Its aid workers, though targeted by the Egyptian officials, were in Gaza after latest Israeli genocide.

Venzuelan president Hugo Chavez is reported to be thinking of joining the groups which intend to challenge Israel’s so-called “closed military zone” established to starve 1.5 million Gazan hoping them to turn against their elected government of Islamic Resistance Hamas.

It is no secret that Ankara-Tel Aviv alliance which was essentially based on Kemalist secularim, military and bureaucracy establishments’ hatred toward Islam and the Arabs – is showing cracks in the recent years. It was the Crypto-Jewish ruling class which implemented the anti-Islam agenda disguised as ’secularim’ since Gen. Mustafa Kemal Pasha (Attaturk) until the election of moderate Islamic party AKP. The Jewish Lobby and think tanks in Turkey used these common grounds to the benefit of Israel. For example, Gen. Cevik Bir, deputy chief of Turkish General Staff, was a frequent visitor to Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA). He, in his speech at JINSA blamed Islamic Iran for terrorism against Turkey. Gen. Edip Baser was also an invited guest at JINSA in April 2000. The Welfare-lead coalition was toppled by the pro-Israel military junta because prime minister Necmettin Erbakan had threatened to annul all previous agreements with the Zionist entity especially concerning security issues. In the past (1997), both the Arab League (AL) and the Organization of Islamic Conference (IOC) hav condemned Turkey’s close relations with anti-Muslim Zionist entity.

Despite the negative images of the Arabs created by Crypto-Jewish elites in support of the so-called “nation building” in Turkey – the Palestinian people have always been regarded as the innocent suufering Muslims among the majority of Turks. When Israel, on July 31, 1980, declared Jerusalem to be the “undivided” capital of Israel – Ankara strongly condemned that decision. A large majority of Turkish population regards Jerusalem as an integral part of Islamic civilization.

Now with the rise of ultra-extremist Jewish parties in power in Israel – those common bonds between Ankara and Tel aviv have started breaking.

Turkey has been rocked by another TSK-Mossad terrorist plot, code name Balyoz (sledgehammer) against AKP government involving retired Gen. Cetin Dogan, Gen. Ibrahim Firtina and Gen. Ergin Saygun. A similar ealier plot to over-throw AKP government, Ergenekon involving Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), Mossad and US Embassy in Ankara is under investgation.

The US-Israel agenda of dividing the occupied Iraq into an Arab and Kurd state in Northern Iraq – will never be acceptable to Turkey, Syria and Islamic Iran – because, historically, an independent Kurdish state in the region, will act as an Israeli proxy to destablize the region. according to Umit Ozdog, president of an Ankara-based pro-state think tank – one of the leading figures of those lobbying for a Kurdish state in Washington since 1992, is Ariel Sharon, an Israeli politician. According to some sources – nearly 30 senior executives of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), an important political organization, are Kurdish Jews.

Wayne Madison, an American investigative journalist and columnist, wrote in January 2009, under the title Israel hope to colonize part of Iraq as Greater Israel, wrote:

“Israeli expansionists, their intentions to take full control of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and permanently keep the Golan Heights of Syria and expand into southern Lebanon already well known, also have their eyes on parts of Iraq considered part of a biblical “Greater Israel.”

Israel reportedly has plans to relocate thousands of Kurdish Jews from Israel, including expatriates from Kurdish Iran, to the Iraqi cities of Mosul and Nineveh under the guise of religious pilgrimages to ancient Jewish religious shrines. According to Kurdish sources, the Israelis are secretly working with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to carry out the integration of Kurdish and other Jews into areas of Iraq under control of the KRG.

Kurdish, Iraqi Sunni Muslims, and Turkmen have noted that Kurdish Israelis began to buy land in Iraqi Kurdistan, after the U.S. invasion in 2003, that is considered historical Jewish “property.”

Kurdish and Iraqi sources report that Israel’s Mossad is working hand-in-hand with Israeli companies and “tourists” to stake a claim to the Jewish “properties” of Israel in Iraq. The Mossad has already been heavily involved in training the Kurdish Pesha Merga military forces. Reportedly assisting the Israelis are foreign mercenaries paid for by U.S. Christian evangelical circles that support the concept of “Christian Zionism.”

Iraqi nationalists charge that the Israeli expansion into Iraq is supported by both major Kurdish factions, including the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan headed by Iraq’s nominal President Jalal Talabani. Talabani’s son, Qubad Talabani, serves as the KRG’s representative in Washington, where he lives with his wife Sherri Kraham, who is Jewish. Also supporting the Israeli land acquisition activities is the Kurdistan Democratic Party, headed by Massoud Barzani, the president of the KRG. One of Barzani’s five sons, Binjirfan Barzani, is reportedly heavily involved with the Israelis……..”

According to Naeim Giladi, a member of an underground Zionist terrorist group in Iraq in the 1940s – who migrated to Israel and later to the US – wrote in his book The Jews of Iraq: “Almost 125,000 Jews left Iraq for Israel before 1952, most because they had been lied to and put into panic by what I came to learn were Zionist bombs”.

Canada’s Carleton University launches new divestment campaign

While stumbling across Antony’s blog, I seem to like the idea that civil society has the heart to take on issues relating to oppression on the Palestinian people.

Students Against Israeli Apartheid (SAIA) Carleton in Ottawa, Canada, have released a stunning video explaining why their university should divest from companies intimately involved in the Israeli occupation.

The following is more reading material, which might help in the future:

For the past several months, Students Against Israeli Apartheid – Carleton (SAIA), a student group at Carleton University in Ottawa that is committed to supporting the Palestinian struggle for freedom, has been conducting research on Carleton’s investments in Israeli apartheid. The Carleton Pension Fund currently lacks any ethical guidelines, with its only mandate being the maximization of profit. SAIA has discovered that the Pension Fund, which provides retirement income for Carleton staff and faculty, currently has some $2,762,535 invested in five companies that are complicit in the oppression of the Palestinian people. In light of these findings, SAIA has launched a campaign calling on Carleton to immediately divest from the offending corporations: Motorola, BAE Systems, Northrop Grumman, L-3 Communications, and Tesco supermarkets, as well as to adopt a socially responsible investment policy for all of its investments.

Motorola is involved in designing and implementing perimeter surveillance systems around illegal Israeli settlements and military camps in the West Bank.  Motorola and its subsidiaries also have hundreds of millions of dollars worth of contracts to supply the Israeli military with telecommunications technology, checkpoint security and control systems.  By providing support for the Israeli military, Motorola plays a role in ensuring that settlement expansion will continue, and that the occupation will deepen, in a clear violation of international law.

BAE Systems is the world’s third-largest arms producer.  Both BAE and its Israeli subsidiary, Rokar, contribute to weaponry used by Israel to attack Palestinian civilians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza.  BAE produces cluster bombs and the F-16 combat aircraft, which were used during the 2008-2009 assault on the Gaza Strip, which killed over 1,400 Palestinians, most of whom were non-combatant civilians.

Northrop Grumman, one of the world’s largest weapons manufacturers, provided the Israeli military with many of the parts for the Apache AH64D Longbow Helicopter, which was described by Amnesty International as a piece of “key equipment used by the [Israeli military] in the [December 2008 – January 2009] Gaza bombing campaign.”  Furthermore, Northrop Grumman is the sole provider of radars for the F-16 combat aircraft. It also assists in producing the Longbow Hellfire 2 missiles, which, as has been documented by many human rights organizations, were widely used against Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

L-3 Communications is one of the many large multinational firms aiding in the construction and maintenance of the system of military checkpoints that severely restrict Palestinian freedom of movement in the West Bank and around Gaza. The matrix of checkpoints has been condemned by human rights organizations as a brutally repressive system that violates the basic human rights of the Palestinian people.  In addition to being a means of political repression and land annexation, the checkpoints constitute a tool of collective punishment, which is a crime under international law.

Tesco Supermarkets is a large United Kingdom-based international grocery and general merchandising retail chain.  It has been the target of social justice activists in the U.K. for selling produce originating from illegal Israeli settlements, for mislabeling products coming from the settlements as “West Bank”, as well as for using an exporter, Carmel-Agrexco, which has been criticized for using slavery-type working conditions in its factories in the occupied West Bank.  Tesco’s financial support for the illegal Israeli settlements lends them legitimacy and enables their economic growth and physical expansion, while simultaneously inhibiting the development of the Palestinian economy.

Carleton is no stranger to BDS activism, and it has a strong precedent to build upon.  In 1987, Carleton divested from all companies complicit in the apartheid regime in South Africa.  Carleton’s president at the time wrote a memorandum, saying, “Carleton University abhors apartheid and will do all it can to show its position on apartheid within its business practices.” Given Carleton’s past commitment to divesting from apartheid regimes, SAIA is calling on the university to once again place itself on the right side of history by ending its investments in the ongoing oppression of the Palestinian people.

The South African victory serves as an inspiring model for SAIA’s divestment campaign, which is the first Palestine-centred divestment initiative in Canada. Hopes are high that, through a well-planned local campaign, as well as the natural growth of BDS, momentum will pick up at universities across the country and similar initiatives will emerge to form a national movement to cut campus ties with Israeli apartheid.

Specifically, SAIA recommends that:

1. The Carleton University Board of Governors, via the Pension Fund Committee, immediately divest of its stock in BAE Systems, L-3 Communications, Motorola, Northrop Grumman, and Tesco

2. Carleton University refrain from investing in other companies involved in violations of international law (for recommended guidelines see Conclusions/Recommendations section of the divestment report)

3. Carleton University work with the entire university community to develop, adopt, and implement a broader policy of Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) for its Pension Fund and other investments, through a transparent and effective process.

Muzzlewatch provides the background:

Last year we wrote about Canada (not Minnesota’s) Carleton University when their Apartheid Week poster was banned by the school administration. They didn’t realize at the time that the poster featured weaponry made by multinational companies that are part of the college’s investment portfolio. Well now they know. Here is their new campaign video which re-tells the story of the censorship of the poster and the reasons behind their new divestment campaign.

Tony Blair on Iraq War Inquiry

Tony Blair often seemed keener to talk about Iran, or Afghanistan, or Libya, or almost anywhere other than Iraq this morning. But he did make some potentially important admissions.

He appeared to concede that the threat from Iraq had not changed in 2001/ 2 – only that his “perception” of that threat had changed, in the light of 9/11. This raises two difficulties.

First, of course, Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 and no links with al-Qaeda; Mr Blair was forced into a series of hypotheticals – if Saddam had passed WMDs to terrorists, and so on? As one of the Chilcot panel, Sir Roderic Lyne, reminded him: “But it’s these ifs, isn’t it?”

Second, more importantly, it directly contradicts Mr Blair’s key claim to Parliament before the war, where he insisted that the Iraq threat – the actual threat, not just the perception – was “growing.”

Asked by Sir Roderic: “Was the intelligence telling you it was growing?” Mr Blair referred to a Joint Intelligence Committee assessment saying not that the threat was growing, but that it was “continuing.” His second piece of evidence of a “growing” threat was the alleged mobile biological weapons labs. But as the JIC assessment (quoted in full in Annex B of the Butler Report) says, this programme had been there since 1995.

It wasn’t the only time Mr Blair appeared to misrepresent intelligence. Asked for the intelligence to justify another dubious claim, that the “assessed intelligence” had established Saddam’s WMD “beyond doubt,” he cited a 15 March 2002 JIC assessment that said it was “clear.” In fact, as far as I can see, the word “clear” does not appear in the JIC assessment of that date.

Mr Blair was also taxed about his claim to Parliament, on 16 July 2002, that Britain was not planning for possible military action. By that point Britain had, in fact, been planning for possible military action for at least two months. He appeared to concede that he had misled MPs, saying: “In retrospect it’s maybe better just to say it.”

Mr Blair’s “sexing up” of the intelligence to make the case for war was, of course, a claim first made by me in May 2003. His answers today won’t have helped his case that he acted properly.

UN in secret peace talks with Taliban

Are these emerging signs for ‘Taliban Victory’ or a defeat for ‘Western Nations’ in bringing to justice the people behind 9/11?

Taliban commanders held secret exploratory talks with a United Nations special envoy this month to discuss peace terms, it emerged tonight.

Regional commanders on the Taliban’s leadership council, the Quetta Shura, sought a meeting with the UN special representative in Afghanistan, Kai Eide, and it took place in Dubai on 8 January. “They requested a meeting to talk about talks. They want protection, to be able to come out in public. They don’t want to vanish into places like Bagram,” the Reuters news agency quoted a UN official as saying, referring to the Bagram detention centre at a US military base outside Kabul.

The Dubai meeting was confirmed to the Guardian by officials with knowledge of the encounter, but they said they could provide no further details.

It was the first such meeting between the UN and senior members of the Taliban. The fact that it took place suggests that peace talks have revived since exploratory contacts between emissaries of the Kabul government and the Taliban in Saudi Arabia last year broke down.

It also suggests that some Taliban members might be prepared for the first time to put faith in an international organisation to broker a deal to end the nine-year war.

News of the Dubai meeting surfaced at the end of a day-long conference in London intended to map out a transition over five years from a Nato-led military campaign to Afghan-led effort involving more political, social and economic measures to end the fighting.

As part of the transition, Afghan forces are due to take lead responsibility for security in a handful of provinces by the end of this year, assume the lead in the most violent regions within three years, and take overall responsibility for security across the country in five years. If successful, the transition would pave the way for the withdrawal of foreign forces.

An official statement from the Taliban leadership in response to today’s conference warned that “attempts by the enemy to bribe the mujahideen, offering them money and employment to abandon jihad, are futile”. However, it added what appeared to be a conciliatory note, saying that it was waging a jihad only to “liberate” Afghan territory and posed “no threat to neighbouring countries or anyone else”.

Although an important development, it was unclear how significant a faction Eide had met in Dubai or how serious they were. A western official confirmed that there were indications of splits in the Taliban over the prospect of a settlement.

“We believe there are mid-level commanders tired of fighting and who have realised neither side is going to win,” the official said. “There is a younger generation of Taliban commanders who believe it was a colossal mistake to side with the Arabs [in al-Qaida]. In fact the vote at the shura [meeting] in Kandahar in 2001 was only narrowly in favour of sticking with the Arabs.”

The western official said: “This ‘new Taliban’ is not that much more extreme than some of the people in government. They could be willing to compromise on some issues, like women’s rights, girls education, even watching telly perhaps.”

At today’s London conference, President Hamid Karzai declared: “We must reach out to all of our countrymen, especially our disenchanted brothers, who are not part of al-Qaida, or other terrorist networks, who accept the Afghan constitution.”

The Afghan government pledged to hold a peace council, loya jirga, in the next few weeks, to which village elders from across the country, including some known to have Taliban ties, would be invited.

Speaking at the end of the conference, the US secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, signalled that the US was ready to accept talks. “The starting premise is you don’t make peace with your friends. You have to be able to engage with your enemies,” Clinton said.

Website Offers Reward For Tony Blair’s Arrest

A website offering a reward to people who try to arrest former Prime Minister Tony Blair for alleged “crimes against peace” has raised over £9,000 in just two days.

The website, called Arrest Blair (http://www.arrestblair.org/rules), was launched on January 25 – just four days before he was due to give evidence to the Chilcott inquiry into the Iraq war.

It was created by writer George Monbiot, an environmental and political activist who has a weekly column in The Guardian newspaper.

Launching the website, he wrote: “We must show that we have not, as Blair requested, ‘moved on’ from Iraq, that we are not prepared to allow his crime to remain unpunished.”

The website stipulates the citizen’s arrest must be peaceful and that anyone attempting it will be paid a quarter of the money donated – currently just over £9,200.

It also states there must be no injuries to Mr Blair or those around him and that the incident must be reported in “at least one mainstream media outlet in a bulletin, programme or article”.

Anyone claiming the reward must also prove they are the person featured in the report and come forward within 28 days of the attempt.

For people who have not carried out a citizens arrest in the past, the website offers advice on how to go about it, including handling police.

They are recommended to approach Mr Blair “calmly”, and “in a gentle fashion to lay a hand on his shoulder or elbow, in such a way that he cannot have any cause to complain of being hurt”.

They are urged to loudly announce: “Mr Blair, this is a citizens’ arrest for a crime against peace, namely your decision to launch an unprovoked war against Iraq.

“I am inviting you to accompany me to a police station to answer the charge.”

Mr Monbiot, 47, said although any arrests would be “largely symbolic” they would nonetheless have “great political resonance”.

He added: “There must be no hiding place for those who have committed crimes against peace. No civilised country can allow mass murderers to move on.”

There will be minute-by-minute coverage of Mr Blair’s long-awaited appearance before the Chilcott inquiry on Friday here on Sky News Online.

How has Obama’s first year been (inauguration anniversary)?

Well well

Has time not gone by quick. America had many many expectations and high hopes of the ‘real big change’ but has change really come?

Without digging too deep many people feel that change has yet to come or will never come. An obvious failure in Obama’s policy which springs to mind is the failure to close down Guantánamo.

Here is a video of that exact moment or promise by Obama:

The exact date was

January 22nd, 2009 and January 22nd, 2010 has passed.

I think this requires another lengthy post and analysis a little later on (as much work is required) but for now, this was something on my mind and I wanted to know how others felt:

Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins

In this last week, I have had two people unrelated to each other recommend me to read ‘Confessions of an Economic Hit Man’ by John Perkins and have used the words ‘must read’ and ‘very important’.  Although the book is not in my possession yet, I believe I should have this book in the next few days.  Like always, I usually Google the book or the author just to get an understanding of the reviews, and so far admittedly people seem to be pay attention and recommending it.

One I have read the book, I shall write my own opinion and review here (expect it, towards the end of Jan).

Meanwhile, I have come across some videos (interviews) from the Author John Perkins.  I have realised that Confessions of an Economic Hit Man is one of many books written by the author, and interestingly the author is in the process in writing another similar book but taking into account stories from other Economic Hit Men.

I have added these videos here and you can also find them under the ‘Must See Videos’ section of my blog.  Although I’m trying to restrict myself at this stage in not to comment on the videos until after I have read the book, it seems hard not to add few words after my initial research.

Although the book was published in 2004, it seems much what was said has unfortunately been proved correct, especially about the economic meltdown and credit crisis.  One thing that really surprises me the author’s confessions of knowing assassinations of the country leaders would follow should he fail in his job, and I’m surprises that governmental pressures or other pressures from world leaders have not stopped John Perkins in making these claims.  Oh well I will need to read the book carefully once I have it.

For now, please enjoy the following videos:

Finally I decided to write a blog.  So here I present to you – Free Mind Movement blog, my very first blog.  Freeing the mind and helping others to do the same, is an idea that has been at the back of my mind for many months now.  Since Christmas 2009, I put into motion few steps to make this blog actually happen for January 2010 and today here I am writing my very first post.  This is going to be a new experience to me and will put a new challenge in my life.  As well as a full time job (a demanding one too) and a part time PhD, I have yet complicated my life further and I’m looking forward to the new challenge.

First thing first, many might ask few question as to ‘why did I start this blog?’ and ‘What are my objectives?’

Why did I start this blog?

The answer will no doubt relate too many and those who agree with why I created this blog and this challenge will understand the answer to be a sad one too.  For many years now, and I guess since 9/11 disaster many people and including me have had our minds affected.  On one hand, there are the official US government explanations which somewhat didn’t make sense at the time and still don’t.  We are somewhat forced to believe them in many ways and our minds are constantly being programmed to accept them thus affecting the ability for our minds to think freely.  Living in the UK and having many friends from all sorts of backgrounds, cultures and religions all seem to be victims in one way or another.  On the other hand, growing amount of concern has fuelled many new movements, movements which offer an alternative unofficial explanation by unofficial and official media sources and mainly by bloggers.  New videos have cropped up with in depth research, where keen individuals just like me and you have pieced together every single fact that is available and have concluded a total different explanation and one which challenges the official US government one.

Now almost after 9 years of this disaster, one would expect things to have changed.  But has anything really changed?  To eliminate future attacks and increase security for the US nations, a war in Afghanistan and a war in Iraq has been the response.  In the recent few months, the official explanations and reason for attacking Iraq have been proved to be either based on lies or very poor intelligence presented by Tony Blair (then the Prime Minister of UK).

Okay, we’ll talk about it another time maybe.  Nevertheless these atrocities against poor nations wouldn’t have happened if our minds had not been tampered with.  To recall an old phrase “Union is strength” as well “United we stand divided we fall”.  So my dear friends as you would have guessed Free Mind Movement blog is an effort in the direction of uniting everyone and to free their minds into a new movement.  I am happy to announce that by writing this blog I actively join with many thousands of people around the globe working towards freeing the minds into a new movement.

What is the objective of Free Mind Movement blog?

The objective of this blog is to create awareness about the challenges we all are facing, physically and mentally, the sufferings our brothers and sisters in various parts of the world are undergoing daily just so the very elite can control more and more resources around the world, working towards free mind and spreading awareness by examining the world with peace objectives.  From this humble effort I hope to create a desire, a deep craving amongst all nations to put aside their differences and unite in the name of peace and love for a better world for all.
